About Me

My name is Maressa Alsher, and I am a 4th grade teacher at Thomas Fitzwater Elementary in Willow Grove, PA. I have lived in Philadelphia for the past 3 years, but grew up in Metro Detroit area. Prior to becoming a spartan, I attended Central Michigan University (fire up chips!) where I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis on Mathematics and Language Arts.

I am currently in my 8th year of teaching, and I have been fortunate enough to teach in four different states throughout my career (Florida, New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania). Each of these unique teaching experiences have been invaluable in allowing me to grow as a thoughtful and adaptable educator. As you probably guessed, I love to travel to new places, both near and far. I try to visit new places as often as possible.

When I am not teaching, I like to try new restaurants around Philly (trying to get to all of these!) with my husband. There is so much to learn from living in such a culturally rich city, and I try to take full advantage of that! We also have a six-year-old pug named Lily. She loves going to the dog park and spending time with her 'pawrents'. During the summer, I love to go to flea markets and find new, old treasures. I love to mix the old and new and decorate our apartment with the treasures I find.
